The short comparison

Oreline

Investigate the rare-earth chain.

A curated dataset of companies, facilities, output and disclosed relationships, with evidence, comparisons, saved investigations and assumption-based scenarios.

Metalshub

Published offering

Metalshub describes a platform for buying, selling and trading critical raw materials, including rare-earth elements. Its role is closer to the commercial procurement process than a stand-alone research library. Buyers should assess the relevant material market, counterparties and workflow rather than equate any raw-material platform with the same service.

Do you need a researched shortlist or a transaction workflow?

A supplier investigation should establish what is known about capability and dependency before a commercial process begins. A procurement platform helps organise buying and selling. Neither step removes the need for the other when the material is strategically important.

For a magnet-material tender, a quoted volume and delivery date are commercial inputs. They should still be assessed against qualification, producing site and any relevant upstream exposure. Conversely, a well-documented producer in a research database has not made an offer to your company merely because its operating record looks credible.

How the work differs

Use Oreline to examine candidate facilities, production evidence and disclosed agreements. Identify the questions a supplier must answer before it qualifies as an alternative. Take that researched shortlist into your procurement process; Oreline does not place orders or negotiate transactions on your behalf.

Sources, reporting periods and evidence gaps remain visible throughout the investigation. Coverage is reviewed rather than exhaustive or live, and undisclosed quantities stay unknown. Read how the analysis handles them.

Why Oreline for this work

A purchasing process needs a shortlist whose industrial assumptions have been examined. Oreline gives your team the dataset and investigation tools for that preparation. Use the sandbox to see how output evidence and disclosed commitments shape the questions to resolve before approaching a supplier.

Pricing and access

Oreline costs $1,000 USD per organisation per month, including 20 individual seats and access to the published research library, curated dataset and investigation tools. See the subscription details.

Metalshub pricing is not quoted here. When comparing costs, account for the required modules, team access, data rights and contract term. Oreline's organisation plan includes the published research and working tools in one subscription.

Oreline’s free sandbox needs no account and contains selected examples. It is a product evaluation, not free access to the full subscription workspace.

What to test before buying

  1. Separate supplier research from RFQs, contracting and order execution.
  2. Confirm the material and counterparty coverage of the procurement platform.
  3. Require qualification and delivery evidence in addition to a research profile.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy rare-earth material through Oreline?

No. Oreline is a research product, not a marketplace or broker.

Does a facility listed in Oreline guarantee supplier availability?

No. Operating output, customer commitments, qualification and an actual offer must be assessed separately. A listed facility is not a promise to sell material.
